We all have one thing in common, to constantly improve our lives and be the very best version of ourselves. But unfortunately, most of us have lived our lives the same way, only wishing and hoping for life to smile on them. Wondering why your life lacks zest, flavour and colour? Today, I would walk you down a pathway of what I call THE LIFE GRID BOX. For some persons the whole box contains just work, for others, family and some kids, friends, church. Paint an imaginary picture of a rectangular box representing your whole life, what do you have inside it? Imagine your entire life grid box is made up of just work, your whole life revolves around your job and nothing else. What do you think would happen when you loose that job? Certainly, frustration, depression and regrets, no wonder some persons even go as far contemplating suicide when they are retrenched. Now, imagine another person whose life grid box is made of Family, Friends, Hobbies, Church, Personal development, Work, Holidays, even when you take out her work, she has other things to fall back to, till she gets another job. Same goes for women, whose life grid box is made up of just their husband, she relies on him for emotional, physical, mental and financial support, he is the only meaningful thing in her life, the only reason for her existence. How do you her husband react over time? Guess what, he would get tired and irritated at every slightest thing she does, because he feels chocked up. She would come across him as a pest, chewing gum or monitoring spirit as they call it. The poor woman gets frustrated as cluelessness precedes hopelessness, she starts feeling her love and devotion is not appreciated, nor is she prioritized by her husband. A wrong thinking pattern sets in, thinking he has a lover outside and before you know it, she starts quarreling and nagging over anything and everything, keeps tabs on him, checking his phone, and the relationship spirals downwards. I’m sure, most of us can relate to this last example, especially unemployed wives.
Life is lived more consciously and purposefully and therefore enriched. Take time to ask yourself the questions how whole is my life? Take a piece of paper and write down the things that makes up your life grid, add more and make changes. Readers, expand your life grid by doing the things you love, and let your life come alive. Learn to infuse your life with things you love and want, light up your world by making your life count.
